Florianópolis, a capital de Santa Catarina é uma ilha belíssima, com grande quantidade de praias, e locais históricos.
Florianópolis, the capital city of the State of Santa Catarina is a gorgeous island with lots of beaches and historical spots.

Antes da chegada dos europeus, a ilha era habitada pelos indios Carijós, da nação Tupi-guarani. Os primeiros portugueses chegaram à ilha em 1514 e a batizaram de Ilha dos Patos. Porém os espanhois a batizaram de Ilha de Santa Catarina em 1526.
Before the arrival of European, the Carijós, a native group from the Tupi-guarani nation were the only inhabitants of the island. The first Portuguese arrived in 1514 and called the place 'Duck Island'. However, in 1526, the Spaniards called it Santa Catarina Island.



A Ilha era apenas um porto de passagem para o abastecimento das naves que se dirigiam à Bacia do Prata na atual Argentina. Em 1738 foram construidas várias fortalezas na Ilha para defendê-la de eventuais invasões. The island was then used only for the supply of ships in their way to La Plata River, in the the 'Silver Basin' located in the now Argentina. In 1738 the Portuguese built several fortresses to protect the island from eventual invasions.

Mas, a partir de 1747 começaram a chegar colonizadores do Arquipélago dos Açores e da Ilha da Madeira e se iniciou seu desenvolvimento comercial, agrícola e industrial. A Ilha guarda ainda a cultura e as tradições açorianas. However, since 1747 the first settlers arrived, coming from the Açores Archipelago, and from the island of Madeira. The development of trade, agriculture and industries took place in the island since then. The ancient culture and tradition of Açores is still very present in the island.

Com a proclamação da República, in 1889, se iniciou na região a Revolta Federalista o que levou o então presidente Marechal Floriano a sufocar violentamente as revoltas, com o fuzilamente de muitos rebeldes. O nome Florianópolis foi uma homenagem à Floriano para mostrar lealdade dos governantes locais da época. A ilha de Santa Catarina se chama Florianópolis desde 1894.
When Brazil became a Republic in 1889, the so-called Federalist Rebellion started in the south of Brazil. To stop federalist rebellion, the then president Marshal Floriano ordered the execution of many rebels. The name of the island changed to Florianópolis (the city of Floriano) in his honor. The Island of Santa Catarina is known by Florianópolis since 1894.

Evento CE Volvo

Há 31 anos no Brasil, a Volvo contribuiu para o desenvolvimento tecnológico e social do país. Em Curitiba a Volvo fabrica ônibus e caminhões e teve um importante papel na criação do inédito e criativo sistema de transportes da cidade. Participa também de programas de de educação no trânsito, o Programa Volvo de Segurança no Trânsito.
For 31 years in Brazil, Volvo has made an important contribution to the technological and social development of the country. In Curitiba Volvo manufactures buses and trucks and had a major rol in conceiving the original and creative urban transportation system for the city. Volvo also participates in programs related to the education in transit, the Program Volvo Traffic Safety.

Em Pederneiras, no Estado de São Paulo a Volvo produz equipamentos para a contrução, e realizou um evento na sua sede em Curitiba, onde foram apresentados os novos equipamentos para seus distribuidores na America Latina. Um local especial foi construido para este fim. A Volvo está de parabéns!
In Pederneiras, located in the State of São Paulo, Volvo produces contruction equipment, and to present the new equipment for the Latin American dealers, organized an event in the headquarter in Curitiba. A special space was built for this purpose. Congratulation Volvo!

As Trilhas Ecológicas fazem parte da Reserva de Biodiversidade do Resort onde se realizam trabalhos de Educação Ambiental.
The Ecological Trail is part of the Biodiversity Reserve of the Resort, where Environmental Education work is accomplished.





Nas rochas frente ao Resort se encontra o Museu Arqueológico ao ar livre com inscrições rupestres que comprovam a existencia de povos primitivos nesta região. (veja foto)
On the rocks in front of the Resort you can find an outdoor Archeological Museum with inscriptions, which corroborates the presence of ancient inhabitants in that region. (see picture)

A cantora curitibana Cris Lemos lançou seu último CD no Teatro da Reitoria de Curitiba com muitos aplausos. O CD contém 13 composições inéditas e foram lançadas com o talento já característico de Cris Lemos com teatro cheio.

Singer Cris Lemos, a local singer, launched her most recent CD in The Theater of the University in Curitiba and became standing ovation. The CD brings 13 new composition and she could launch them with her well know talent.

Cris e minha filha Andrea em minha casa, semanas antes do lançamento do novo CD.
Cris e Andrea iniciaram suas respectivas carreiras aos 15 anos quando ainda estudavam no Colégio Martinus de Curitiba e se descubriam 'artistas' mutuamente.
Hoje, Cris me chama de 'segunda mãe' o que muito me alegra!


Cris and my daughter Andrea in my home, some weeks before the launching of Cris´s CD;
Cris and Andrea started their carreers when they were only 15 years old and still in high school at Martinus, a German School in Curitiba. They started realizing they were 'artists".
Presently, Cris calls me 'my second mother' something that makes me very happy.
